    modem

    Hello folks,
On my worker-bee, cheapo computer, the modem has stopped working; It worked before; the modem now says it is set up for Com Port3; there is no com Port 3. How do I change the modem to Com2 or Com1? Thanks in advance.
    Chas

You might be able to change the com port by going into the Control Panel>Modems>Properties. Depends on the Modem

BTW, Com 1 and 3 and Com 2 and 4 are the same thing.

If it is a "WINMODEM" then it uses a Virtual Com Port and usually assigns COM 3.

START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL

Double click on "MODEM" icon. then go to "More Info" under Diag TAB, do a bunch pf AT command show up or do you get an error window?
