Is Internet2 a techno-myth or what?
I first heard about it more than two years ago and there was a good deal of chatter about its potential and possibilities. You can still come across an article here or there once in a while but it seems like precious little progress has been made. So what do you think? Is it a myth or are there major corporate entities like the MPIAA and RIAA doing everything they can (like I don't know bribes) to block the way?

Looks to me like it's starting off the same way the Internet started off -- research institutions. Mass market usage didn't come until much later.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.

"Internet2 is a consortium being led by over 200 universities working in partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies, accelerating the creation of tomorrow's Internet. Internet2 is recreating the partnership among academia, industry and government that fostered today´s Internet in its infancy. "

Here's an interesting read. MPAA is terrified of the potential for Internet2 (a DVD transferrable halfway around the world in 5 seconds ?!?), but they may also be looking to avoid the RIAA's missteps and embrace I2 as a new media rather than denying it's potential.
Cheers,
KV
