Sun Java update question
Hushmail tells me I need to update my Sun Java and Sun's website seems to confirm it. However when I click the update from the Java control panel it tells me I have the most updated version.
I have now: JRE Standard Ed. 1.4.2_05
Site says there is: JRE 1.4.2_06 update.
Since this security flaw was announced as critical I guess I need to update.
Can anyone using SunJava for Firefox and IE tell me if I need to uninstall the old or anything first or just install the new version ovet the top.
Thanks as I'm new to Sun (needed it for Firefox).
I did read for an hour or more at their site but never could find this question answered. (uninstall or on top).
Thanks again,
carson

1. Yes quite possibly - how about you be the pioneer and update it. Then you can help us out when we get in trouble.
2. How does zero reply posts equte to incorrect moderation. What do you want them to reply to your thread saying "sorry no one has replied to your post" - that should be obvious.

I personally do not recommend Java for Firefox. It's a crash prone mess, and uninstalling it broke the Java that comes with Windows.
I have the IE View extension for times I "need" Java. A pox on all who place it on their sites.

As Nix pointed out there isn't much point in telling you that no one knows the answer to your question. It isn't a mods job to answer every question that no one else has an answer to. I suppose we could have done a google search but I guess you could have too.
There really aren't that many zero reply posts around here but if it bothers you that much why don't you take the time to answer them yourself instead of complaining about it?
One thing we can do without a google search is close a thread for rude and uncalled for comments.
