    Don't mess it up, people

Good Idea, if the members will police themselves on this forum. I am sure some here remember the old "No Wonder" board, which was very popular a few years ago, and it got completely out of bounds, so the owners of the forum shut it down, renamed it E-People and it shut down shortly afterward due to no input. Let's don't let that happen here. Delete the Lounge if it begins to become like No Wonder did. I am really not worried that members will abuse the priviledge that the new forum offers. However, I AM greatly surprised (but grateful) to see it at all. Happy yakking.

Don't worry, all the mod staff will be keeping a very close eye on this forum, at least to start with.

I do indeed remember NoWonder, and I for one will not allow our OT forum to go the way of that one. But I also remember there were some very interesting threads there.

Are we having a specifically written set of rules for the Lounge so that it is quite clear to posters whats allowed and whats taboo?

BTW I too was suprised by its appearence too as I normally just use the new posts links as a shorcut. It wasnt till I responded to a previous post from here that it became apparent.

Nope, the AUP will apply just the same. As long as the threads are polite, and don't discuss anything illegal, then there won't be any problems.

I would urge members to remember that this is a kid-friendly site, and not to start topics that are not what you would want your own children to see.

Kid-friendly- - - Well said supersparks, and I agree with you that there were many excellent threads on NoWonder. I would indeed like to see those types of threads come about on this forum, for they were both entertaining and informative. Maybe if they had had different or additional monitors, it might not have gone the way of the DoDo bird.

I would suggest refraining from the usual hot spot topics, such as this upcoming election.
Most have their minds made up, and nothing said here would likely sway anyone anyway; and any undecided's likely won't make up their mind till they are in the booth, so no need for that issue to be discussed, IMO.

Those kind of topics are what gets things posted that are later regretted.
But troll-like behavior will some time show up, as there are always some who just happen by, or we have somebody mad at another.

I would imagine the regulars here would be on their best behavior, seeing how difficult it was to get this allowed here.

As for Nowonder, I too remember it, but was barely there. I do know that a lot of the trouble that happened there just before that OT forum was dumped, was caused by somebody who was here as well, and was later "convinced" to move on from here.
Rumour had it, more than one ID at the NW OT was the same person, even arguing with himself now and then in threads.

    yeah, the good old days.

    Nice to see ya folks......

I am semi-retired from tech support. Well....more like a strike until Bill Gates recalls XP and sends everyone back to Win98.....when everything was right in the world.

Maxx, You can't be semi retired. I'm still workin' the bugs out of WIN98SE and the Bomid Stuff of Compaqs. I might need some help.

Ridgerunr!! Did you see the job Abhoth did on us in the post after yours? LOL
