i was just wondering if using a screensaver, or setting the monitor to turn off after about 15 mintues will make the computer slower when i get back on it. if so , shoul di use a blank screensaver, or should i power off monitor after 15 min? waht are you guys' thoughts on this?

Couldn't you test this and let us know how it goes?

    Blank isn't actually called blank.scr, it's called scrnsave.scr.

You need to use the Expand command as described in that link above. You don't need to go to the Recovery Console though, you can do it in the Command Prompt (All Programs>Accessories). I'm sorry I can't be any more detailed, I have to go to bed, but I'm sure someone else can help if you get stuck.

the expand command worked like a charm just had to rename the extension from .sc_ to .scr then right click and install. i will let yall know which option seems to not effect cpu performance after the comp hasnt been used for awhile
