Video card for a graphic designer
So,
My wife is getting a new graphics card at work. She does primarily graphic design, ie Photoshop. She doesn't need it for video work (or video games for that matter) at all. I've always heard that if you do this kind of work, that a different kind of video card is optimal (ie - not just a high end Geforce card, etc).
Is this true? And if so, does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks

Matrox are very good and have excellent image quality,I'm not sure how the price compares to Nvdia or ATI cards though. BTW I have a Matrox G450 32MB and have been very pleased with it over the last 3yrs,especially the image quality.

Like Wonderinguy says, you don't need the lastest and greatest for graphic design/PhotoShop. Graphics/photos are only seen in 2D, so having a card that sees 3D won't matter in the least. 32mb to 64mb are good sizes for how much VRAM one needs. I wouldn't go lower than 32mb though. And I agree Matrox cards are awesome. Of course a good CRT monitor would help.

Sounds good, that pretty much confirms my suspicions. I'll direct her to the Matrox cards then.
Thanks
