    Usb 2.0

I have a DuoConnect (Adaptec) USB 2.0/Firewire card. I have had it a while, but haven't had a USB 2.0 device until now.

I have since purchased a new printer with 2.0 and a portable mp3 player. When I hook them up, it tells me that it is not optimized and that in order to move up to USB 2.0, I have to move it to another port that is USB 2.0.

I don't understand because I am. There is no 1.1 only slots on the card so I am plugging into a 2.0 slot. I have tried various slots of the 4 with no change.

I have tried to uninstall/reinstall the drivers, but I am not sure which are which. Strangely, there are no Adaptec drivers listed, only AMD, yet in the info section there is reference to Adaptec.

Any ideas? I read somewhere that XP will hijack the drivers and not allow the new driver, but I don't know how to verify it. If I try to manually install the driver, it tells me that there is no info for my hardware in the file.

    Ideas?

    Thanks,

Here are the adaptec drivers (though they're on the cd you got with the card also). I believe that card uses a NEC chipset for the USB controllers. You'll also need XP sp1 (or sp2) for USB 2.0 support.

Be carefull as i tried to use the usb 2.0 drivers from adapte site and had nothing but problems. Found out that using the native winxp driver worked the best

I downloaded the EXE and it will not run. Gives me error message and must quit. Maybe I can run it from safe mode command prompt?

How might I replace with XP native 2.0 drivers?

What errors are you getting exactly when you tried to run the exe?

I am not at home now but it is the typical error box that states the program has experienced an error and must close. You have an option to send the report to M$. Do you wand the details that they send?

Well I finally was able to install the Adaptec drivers. I installed the ones from the disk and the ones from their site (latest) and it totally disabled the card.

I had to rollback to the NEC driver which I believe is native. Unfortunately it is still 1.1.

    Ideas?
