Get rid of AOL junks?

I have a PC with all freebes in there, and AOL is one of them. I was wondering: What is the best way to get rid of AOL junks?

I understand that AOL is installed on the PC.
AOL supposedly will tell you how to uninstall

but I have no experience using their advice.
It also partly depends on what the "junk" is.
To uninstall most of AOL, itself,

But there also are things like AOL Messenger. I believe that can be uninstalled from Add/Remove, too.
But reports are that a thorough cleaning involves going into the Registry and running Edit|Find on AOL and America Online.

Thank you, WelshJim. I will look into your links when I get home.
What I meant was: When one buys a new PC: AOL setup is in there, MSN setup is in there, AT&T setup is in there etc...( that's the incovenience not being able to build myself my own PC)
Nothing has been setup. I am using DSL. For the heck of it, I would like to get rid of AOL, MSN, At&T files that these companies have put in my HDD.

nganvu--These programs seem not to be installed. There should be no files on your hard drive other than the URL's to the install setup files. Just delete the links to the setup files.

P.S. Did those icons have shortcut arrows? You can always delete shortcuts without harm. (Except if you eventually want to access where the shortcut led and do not know how. )

yes, WelshJim, those icons had shortcuts. I already deleted them.
