Internet Explorer - Kiosk Mode

I have kiosk mode working nicely on some PC's dedicated for internet use only enforced with some tight Group Policies, however , I would like to know if it's possible to have the buttons showing to enable users to browse back/forward, etc. thanks.

Hi ,if I F11 and get kiosk mode then the standard buttons are still showing (in a different form) I use auto hide to move them , maybe you have that enabled?(right click in the menu bar) BTW I use the right mouse button all the time to navigate.

F11 is different than kiosk mode, might play around...

What operating system? Auto-Hide in Win98, with only back and forward buttons showing would seem to be the simplest answer. I've not a clue with other than 98, sorry.

F11 then right click toolbar, check Auto-Hide. I know this works in 98se.

He's talking about kiosk mode which is acheived by launching IE using the the -k switch eg Start > Run > type iexplore -k

As discusssed in this MSKB article http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;154780 and is different to F11 mode

If I can get iE to automatically start in FULLSCREEN mode, not kiosk mode, then this will solve my issue. I need the buttons available.

close IE

open IE it is in full screen mode

Noticed using -k and with more than one browser window open, I can use the winkey to access tasbar buttons. Very cumbersome, but also interesting.

I have some GroupPolicy blocking F11 functions. Is there a switch or a regedit like the -k switch for kiosk mode.

Hi, well I have learned something today, never had a reason to activate full screen and always thought F11 was the way. Now went into registry and modified HCKU\Sofware\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main and modify "FullScreen" from no to yes and for the first time I know what the difference is. Good one VDR.

I just found that REGEDIT. I think Microsoft are the ones to thank, they invented it! Once in a while, they DO, do something worthwhile! although if I had no need for Standard buttons toolbar, kiosk mode is alot better.

mine wont stay on yes i go there in regedit and change the string to yes hit ok works one time and goes back to no, whats up with that
