MSN Won't Work On One Computer

    Hello

I'm writing on behalf of a friend of mine. She runs Windows 98 and all of a sudden, she cannot sign into MSN on her computer. She uses her room mate's computer and gets into her hotmail and MSN just fine. Just not on her own system.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this is occuring? Her password and username are right as she can sign in on other system.

Nothin else seems to be malfunctioning, just MSN.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ask her to recheck the cookie settings and if java has become disabled i.e. maybe a firewall or Internet explorer setting.

Just MSN? So, other Internet sites work OK? Does she actually type her password each time or has it been stored?

    Hello

Thanks for the replies. She has her password stored and it is there until she cleans out her cookies and temp files. Then she just re-enters it again till the next cookie cleaning.

Yes all other internet sites work fine. She even tried creating a new username on her computer at MSN, but it won't let her do that either. She keeps getting a message saying user not known. But this is only while she is on her own computer. When she enters her original username and password in while using her roomate's computer, she gets in just fine. So her original thought of someone hacking in and changing her password is inavalid now.

Her java is still clicked. I asked if she had done any major changes on her system lately, and she hadn't. She also does not run any firewall program on her system. With my being over two hours away, it makes it hard to check on things in her system.

Well, thanks so much for the help and replies. I do appreciate them!

Ask her to try another browser like Mozilla and see if the error is repeated,If its not then its something in IE blocking access.

Also, try navigating to the Windows Update site and download the security updates (like Internet Explorer SP1). MSN may have security options in place that may amke the updates necessary.
