    Reversed audio channels

I'm not sure if this is the right section cause this question is about earphones but also audio drivers. You can change locations if it's not the right one.

I recently bought some SONY MDR-P180 earphones, the sound is great for such a low price, that's not the problem.

The problem is on these headphones the left and right channels are reversed. I hear left noises on the right and right noises on the left. I play a lot of Unreal 2k4 and i'm pretty dependant on audio to know where people are coming at me from.

Anyway, i was just wondering if there is any way of reversing the channels with some software. I looked but did'tn find anything so decided to go to the pro's.

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy, all my drivers are fully installed and i have audio HQ installed. Is there anywhere i can go to reverse stereo.

Also would like to mention that i already tried enabling reverse stereo in the unreal settings and it does'nt seem to do anything.

I take it they don't feel right when you flip them
I always get head phone that it doesn't matter which way they're flipped the still feel comfortable

another thing you could try is flipping them with the head band resting on the back of your head
although I don't think it would be very comfortable with those phones.

Thanks for replying but no like you assumed, they dont feel right when they're on backwards. They're big earphones that cover the entire ear cause i wanted to suppress all the noises in my room while i'm playing games.

When i put them on backwards they always just slip off cause they're all crooked.

I don't think there is any or software that can acheive what you want
if you what to do this without splicing
you could get some adapters and stereo RCA audio cable to create a channel cross over.
or maybe you already have something that you can more easily cross over.
such as you head phone jack if it's in the speaker unit
and it can be accessed easily to resolder

I seem to recall when I had my soundblaster 5.1 card there was a setting to reverse the channels. I can't remember exactly where. Just look around at all the different settings and see if there is one. Creative may have eliminated it on the Audigy.

I'm curious to know if the headphnes are reversed when you plug them into anything else? If they are then someone probably soldered the wires the wrong way round, in which case you should be able to get the phones replaced.

The headphones ARE reversed when plugged into anything, but i think i'm past the 30 day exchange policy. I guess i'll just have to live with it.

    Thanks for all the replys.

Well I don't know anything about Canadian consumer law, but in the UK the fact that they are faulty would mean that you certainly wouldn't have any 30 day restriction as to when you could exchange them.
