Local Area Connection & Internet Issues
When I first boot the computer and attempt to load Internet Explorer, it attempts to load the page, but ends with the page and message "This page cannot be displayed", etc.
So, I go to the Local Area Connection and attempt a repair - same results. Then, I disable the Local Area Connection, wait momentarily, and then re-enabled. The results of this allow me to now load pages properly through Internet Explorer and things are back to normal. The problem with this is that anytime the computer is re-booted, I have to go through these same steps and it is very annoying and I believe unnecessary. What could be the cause of this problem? How can this be resolved to work properly?
Computer has XP Home. It is an HP Pavilion 512n.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,
Jody Wood

Hi,
Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance / Admin Tools / Event Viewer / System.
Look for "Red" errors. Double click them
If there are a lot, some of them will be duplicates so just post one of each.
Take a note of the Event ID and also the Source and post them back.

In the System area under the Event Viewer, I see no recent items logged with a "Red" error (red X marked as Error). There are items from the past that have the "Red" error, but they were before I worked through other issues on the PC, such as the need for Windows Updates, virus removal, ad/spyware removal, etc.
Do I need to look somewhere else?
What else may point me in the right direction?
Maybe the solution is to automatically have the system disable the Local Area Connection and then re-enable it. How would one accomplish this (if this is the solution)?
Thanks,
Jody Wood
