Please, I Need Help! Lost Partition!

ok... im really really scared right now because i have some EXTREMELY important data on one of my computers... im talkin about 10 gigs of extremely sensitive data i need to deliver to a friend... i was trying to split my 40 gig Hdd into 2 20GB partitions using partition magic 8 and right in the middle of the process, there was a blackout that lasted an hour... now whenever i start my comp it tells me to insert system disk or somthing like that, i forget, what i thought happened was that my master boot record was wiped out and all i had to do was re-write it... wrong... i took the Hdd out of the comp and put it in my other one and the comp it is in now recognises the drive in the device manager but does not show it in "my computer" so ive lost my partition and as we speak, im in the fetle position on my bed crying or pressing the refresh button on my browser every milisecond... probably the first... PLEASE! if anyone knows of a way for me to recover the partition i will... well... ill stop crying... PLEASE!!!! PLEASE!!!!

What OS? Is it FAT32 or NTFS?

I managed to recover some lost partitions with this software:

    http://www.partition-recovery.com/partition.htm

The free version lets you see if they're recoverable while the $30 version will actually recover them.

    Freeware file recovery software:

    PC Inspector

    Restoration

And Easy Recovery Pro is expensive, but very effective:

Whatever you do, don't attempt to write anything to the hard drive until you've recovered the files
