    Question phone interruption

Lately my phone has been interrupted with a dialup type connecting sound when receiving incoming calls. This happens when my computer is on and not connected to the internet. The only way I can stop this interference is to turn off my computer. The only thing I have done different is change my ISP. I do not have the luxury of any other type service then dialup

It could be as simple as your email program trying to connect to check mail (or some other auto-update program like your a/v) . Turn off that feature... open Internet explorer/internet options/connections and select "never dial a connection".

There's also a more remote possibility that you have a malicious dialer of some sort installed on your computer... it's a hidden program that tries to connect to a 1-900 number to get you to pay for it on your phone bill.

It's probably the former and not the latter so try and fix it that way and see what happens.

If I set to "never dial a connection" Can I still connect to the internet?
Everything is exactly the same as it has been, I was not having any problem until recently after I switched ISP

Yes you can still connect, that just stops the dialup connection from being invoked automatically when an open program tries to download/upload when you're offline. If you installed any software or made some new settings for the new ISP then that default setting may have been reset.

    Question

I did everything suggested and I am still having the problem. My computer can set unconnected to the internet for hours and never try to connect. The connect like noise problem only happens when a incoming call is answered

The closest issue I have seen to this, hardware-wise, is the phone line going dead or being engaged when the phone line is plugged into the modem. What you might want to try is uninstalling the modem drivers and reinstalling with updated drivers. If this doesn't correct the issue you might want to check the BIOS to see if Wake-On-LAN is enabled and disabling it (slim chance of this actually correcting the problem) if it still persists you might want to test with a different modem.

    Question

I have a Hot Call device that rings in when I have a call online. I have had this for years and it has always worked flawlessly. Any chance of this being a problem...

It's a possibility. Easiest way to eliminate it would be to remove the device and test. Even reinstalling it might be enough to correct your situation.

    Yeah, that would do it.
