    Adding wireless to Asus A2000D

I'm looking for a cheap laptop, and I'm almost set on the A2000D listed at http://www.cworld.com.au/info.php?ID=115452. Only catch is no wireless.

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know for sure whether installing an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 (the MiniPCI card that the wireless models come with) would work? Or would I have to go the PCMCIA route to get wireless on it?

    Doesn't look good:

"The Intel® PRO/Wireless network connection is the integrated Wireless LAN (WLAN) solution for Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology. The Intel PRO/Wireless network connection works in concert with the other Intel Centrino mobile technology components"

◊ Intel® PROSet for Wireless software may not be supported by your PC manufacturer. Check with your PC manufacturer for details on availability.

Yeah, but what threw me was that wireless was listed as an option for the Athlon laptops on Asus' site, and the downloads for that model include drivers for the 2200.

I ended up ordering the laptop as-is; it was too good an offer to keep looking. I'll wait until it gets here next week and then see what I can get working in it.

If Asus is advertising it then there's hope...

I brought home a spare lappy from the office with the Pro Wireless and picked up a netgear router....Kind of fun to be able to pick it up and carry it into another room and still be connected..
