    pressing too many keys...

    as many people know, if you press too many or just certain keys, your motherboard starts beeping at you... The most annoying situation, is when you want to press the "Q", "W", and "A", seems to happen alot when I am gaming...

    now, this is all with a PS/2 keyboard..., will this occur when using a USB keyboard. also, what happends if I use a USB adapter?

    I game alot and have never had this problem with a PS2 keyboard.

    may have something to do with the repeat rate... just a guess

    your telling me that if you, right now, hold the "Q" + "W" + "A" all at the same time...., the motherboard doesn't start beaping?
    another thing I has been annoying me is if you have "W" + "A" + "X" held down, the motherboard also beeps....

    ohh my bad, once my homebuilts post ok, I remove the pc speaker, so I would not know. sorry

    Just bumping this one back up for you...

    FYI, I've had this issue on every PC I've owned, all using PS2 keyboards, so thought it's just one of those things we all have to put up with...

    ...Would be interesting to know if a USB keyboard could cure it?

    I'm using a USB keyboard and I just tried both the key combinations above. I held the keys down for about a minute and I didn't get a single peep either from the sound card or from the case speaker. I don't honestly know if that would be the case always though, it might just be my (Gigabyte) mobo,

    Well, i didn't actually check those specific keys before posting above, thought mine were the same and didn't think it was important as i thought the cause would be well known anyway... but, as it turns out i also don't get beeping with those exact keys pressed...

    ...on the system I'm currently at it's keys S+Q+A also S+Q+W and plenty of other similar 3 key combinations that causes the motherboard beeping, i of-course only have it beeping at me occasionally when getting a little carried away gaming, since seeing this question it got me curious.

    It seems to only happen with keys that are in close proximity to one another...

    this is getting increasingly interesting..., I tried your combinations and they dont beep on my computer....

    it seems it has to do with different keyboards or different motherboards...

    I tried my sister's comp, does same as mine
    I tried a different keyboard w/ my comp, does the same
    I tried my laptop which doesn't beep with the internal keyboard but acts just like mine when my PS/2 keyboard is used...

    I think may ask someone at the radio shack in town..., and depending on what they say, I'll buy a USB adapter to see what happends..., if it doesn't work I'll just return it...

    I have a Shuttle motherboard and a Logitech PS2 keyboard... those two combinations beep on mine, but I can't find any others that do.
    Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow.

    Any more comments on this one?

    Would like to know for sure if a USB keyboard cures this issue or if it's more likely related to the kind of motherboard we have?
