    Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD

I just installed Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD and tried to burn a audio file to a cd. When I clicked "write", it gave me a "disc required" message asking to insert the destination disk. I did place a blank cd in the burner. Why am I receiving this message?

Also, you can listen to a file after selecting it, but, when I click on the play icon, I get a red "X" error message that reads: "OLE error 80040217." How come?

I don't know what that means. What object was not found?

Why doesn't instant cd/dvd recognize a blank cd-r in my burner when I try to burn a cd?

Apparently because something is wrong with your burner setup. The computer is telling your burner to write to your blank CD and the burner is responding "But I don't see a blank CD".

I can burn with this burner with Nero and I don't have this problem, then. I just installed Pinnacle Instant cd/dvd, why doesn't my burner recognize a blank cd when I try to burn using Pinnacle?

Because Pinnacle may not support your drive. Check for updates on their site.

Is the audio file on your harddrive or on an audio cd?

    Message from Pinnacle:
InstantCD/DVD version 8 cannot be used to copy CSS-encrypted discs.

Then the only other thing I can think of is, Nero and Pinnacle software have conflicts. This happens with Roxio software and Nero Software on the same computer.

I don't have Roxio software on my system. I have Nero and Pinnacle.

Nero and Pinnacle software have conflicts.
I was using a example when I said Nero and Roxio conflict, but I meant what is quoted above. That Nero and Pinnacle may be conflicting.

I unistalled Nero and I still get the same problems. I am conversing with Pinnacle via e-mail about this problem and nothing they suggested has helped so far, either. Last thing they told me to do was to download and install a patch they sent me. Still same problems after the patch was installed. Why doesn't it recognize that there is a blank cd-r in my burner? I always read good reviews with Pinnacle products and bought this program about 8 months ago. I saved it until I built my new system, which, I just built, hence, why I am using it for the first time. I have version 7 and they now have version 8 available and they don't offer tech support via phone with version 7 anymore. Only tech support I have from Pinnacle is via e-mail. I am not very pleased with Pinnacle (the company) and their product thus far.

Try reinstalling Nero and uninstalling Pinnacle, then see if the drive recognizes your blank cdr's.

My drive did recognize my blank cd's with Nero before I installed Pinnacle. I was able to burn with my drive using Nero.
