    Eithet,
can you please post back the version of macos you are running. You can find it by clicking on the apple icon at the top left of the screen and then click on "about this computer".
here is the driver for mac os 9
    Hope that it helps.

ok here's an update, i downloaded the drivers and installed them, but for some reason the printer still show on the right side of the chooser, when you click on hp deskjet.. i don't get it.. this stuff was supposed to be easier than getting a network printer to work with windows..

I was just thinking that maybe the printer is to new for the OS. What you should do is update to panther you wouldnt beleive how much better it is now.

unfortunatly that's not an option, monetary wise, and system wise, i don't think this ibook would run panther fast enough for it to be suitable for the user.. like i said, i don't know much about macs..

Download the updates of MacOS 9.04 from Apple website. First to 9.1 then 9.2.1 and finally 9.2.2.- Use Apple Software Update in Control Panels to make additionals system software updates. I have a similar problem with HP 3535.-

sorry i haven't replied sooner, but i've been busy with stuff, i was able to upgrade the ibook to 9.1, but every time i try to download the 9.2.1 upgrade, i get an error message stating that the stuff-it package is damaged, and i have tried to download it 5 different times now.. i don't know what to do, the ibook still does not see the printer.. any more help would be greatly appreciated..

I would take it to a repair centre and get them to update it im sure they could do it free its not like they would be doing anything great it quite old as you know.

that's the challenge, their really isn't a repair center in my town that i trust.. the best possibility is about 250 miles away probably.. ah well.. i wonder if i can order a cd with the upgrade.. might not be a bad idea, considering when i bought the computer, i didn't get any cds with it..

yes panther is not a viable monetary option, i went on ebay yesterday and bought a mac os 9.2.2 cd.. for a fraction of the price of panther, the biggest reason panther is not a viable option besides the money, is that i think it would slow this computer down so much that it would almost be unusuable.. i could be wrong.. i don't know..
