    CPU speed

I just installed AMD 2600+ on Asus A7V600-X motherboard. In BIOS CPU speed is 2300MHz, CPU Frequency Multiple 11.5x, and CPU External Frequency (200/33) MHz. In System Properties speed is 2300MHz. Where is problem???

I'll assume you have the Barton core 2600+.

From you're numbers you seem to have the FSB set to 200mhz instead of the default 166 that the 2600+ uses. Thus you're processor is being overclocked to 2300mhz (instead of its normal 1916mhz).

Which 2600 do you have? And if you have a speed of 2300MHZ, that thing is unlocked, lucky you, and overclocked.

    2600 2083MHz (333FSB)
    2600 2133MHz (266FSB)

This will show you how to read the cpu code.

Cpuid/CPU-Z is a good program to check the cpu with.

There are two Thoroughbred varieties of the 2600 which use the multipliers and FSBs in Train's post. But there is also the Barton variety, which uses a multiplier of 11.5 and a default fsb of 166.

I tend to think this is a Barton type here, and simply the fsb setting is wrong (200 * 11.5 = 2300)
