can't install IE6
I cannot install IE6! (or anything from microsoft). I'm running ME. It downloads, but when it is installing I keep getting the message 'could not install all the components'. I have tried almost everything. Done the Hijack This (on another site), disabled ZoneAlarm, downloaded IE6 from different sites, etc... I got scammed from Spyhunter and have since deleted everything associated with those idiots. My problems started when I downloaded that program. I know, I got hijacked. I've also been getting the error message 'Explorer has caused an error in <unknown> Explorer will now close'. I need some serious help, please.

I had the same problem and had to reinstall windows onto my computer. I thought I fixed the problem but now I am getting all kinds of error messages, and millions of pop ups when I sign online. I hav eno clue what to do about it, but I know it all was caused by Spyyhunter.

If you reinstalled Windows Spyhunter wouldn't be there no more. Unless you just installed Windows over Windows. Did you format the hardrive first?

The first thing to try (if you haven't done this already) is download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or Ad-Aware. Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.
Don't skip the update step, it's important.
Then, when you try installing IE again, temporarily disable any anti-virus program you have running. AV programs can seriously interfere when trying to install system files.

Didn't work...
Already have Spybot and Ad-Aware. Ran them both. Disabled ZoneAlarm and Norton. Downloaded IE6. Still get 'couldn't install all the components'. What now?
