No IE but MyIE2 works
This isn't a problem but just interesting.
I decided to try slipstreaming XP Pro with SP1. At the same time I decided to slim down the install CD as outlined on this site:
http://jdeboeck.msfnhosting.com/
As I intended, IE and OE weren't installed. Windows Explorer was installed.
The odd thing is that MyIE2 still works fine. Apparently it doesn't need IE, Windows Explorer must be all that's necessary.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are really just different UI's around the same core code after all.

Yup, i noticed the same thing too after slimming down with that guide... I assume it removes just the IE shell, but leaves its core intact.
Can still also surf with Windows Explorer after removing IE that way.
You might also be interested in the following new utility that does a similar thing (via a GUI, with more options and stuff to remove), check out the following links for info... I haven't tried it yet, but from what I've read it seems very good.
