outlook.exe problem

I am running win2000 Professional
recently I cannot open outlook.exe or internet exporer, (when I open outlook.exe the email opens and then the screen goes blue and then outlook shuts down quickly)same thing happens with IE ver.6.0, (netscape 7.1v is the ony internet connectivity that will work.) Everything else appears to be running fine (word, excel, etc)
I am on cable for my ISP and have a firewall. I ran a virus scan (no virus), I did a defrag and all my critical updateds have been done still not working. any ideas??

Hi , my first though was that this is some form of nasty, maybe you should look at running housecall to be sure.

If no joy then try a repair of IE (also repairs OE) check in add/remove for the repair option, if you have downloaded the SP's for 2k it won't be there go to start/ run and type:-
rundll32.exe setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance Press enter.

Or you could try an over the top reinstall, use the setup prog for IE(around 512 kb) and force a reinstall.

I uninstalled and reinstalled IE6 and that fixed the problem. Thanks for your advice. I have been trying to be diligent and keep up with my critical updates and was afraid I had a virus
