Whats up with AVG?
Just check AVG (6.0) update (5/1/4) and received the (5/2/4) update. After install I get warning popup saying "you AVG virus database is out of date....etc"...with options to "continue", "download now", "more info"
When I click Download now it says I am up to date, although the CC on left reads 5/2/4 there is a red '!" mark and says database is over 2 weeks old.
Again when clicking update now, it says I am already up to date, update file not needed... There's a big popup saying different and database on left states over 2 weeks old.
Confusing...any ideas?
Thanks.
PS: When I now open AVG the "warning" popup is still there and x'ing out it connects and says uptodate although database still reads over 2 weeks old with 5/2/4 date. (?)

I just tried it. Mine's doing the same thing. AVG has had it's share of problems here lately.

Me too.
Maybe it's tomorrow's date on today's update. They'll probably fix it or it'll fix itself soon.

Since AVG is headquartered in Europe, they are, time-wise, ahead of us in the US. This has shown up this way a time or two before. It will show up as ok tomorrow on Sunday...

Hmmm, I just tried my update. It updated, then did the same thing you guys describe. Perhaps it is the time difference, although this has never happened before.

A quick way to test is to set the date on the PC to Sunday May 2. If that doesn't cure it, it's something other than the time diff...

Hey thanks everyone. Glad to not be alone on this one.

Will check it out.
Thanks again,

Glad to help! No magic here. As I said, this happened a few months back. I just kinda remembered that was what happened back then.

Very sad state of affairs! But it's this way with several AV companies. They can barely keep up anymore...

Not until just now. I run NOD32 resident and it looks like that's a good choice. AVG free isn't really doing too bad considering it's free. Thanks for the link.

It appears you can write your own reviews and submit them. There are a lot of people here with experience with Norton, McAffee, AVG etc. Maybe some of us should think about contributing to these reviews. Just a thought.
