    Nasty NYB virus

    Client has 3 hard drives
11 gig 20 & 60 gig. They are partitioned but I am not getting that far yet

ASUS P5A motherboard BIOS version 1007a
Bios only supports 32 gig. Thats not an issue at this point. The BIOS doesnt support the 60 gig. It was obviously installed with Maxblast as its a Maxtor. Thats the only waay that they could possibly have gotten it to work

Heres the issue. Nasty occurence of NYB
I cant kill it. Norton says its there. If Norton says its there then it is

Typically the fix is to rebuild the master boot record with fdisk /mbr
That didnt work. This is not a sophisticated virus

We went one step or two further. I debugged the drive & wiped it with both the debug script that I use from the MS site & the one that Vern uses too.
    Nothing can live through that!

Booted clean & installed. NYB is still there. My disks are not infected

How can this be? How can I debug the main drive & have NYB still survive?
    Norton wont still erradicate it
I need help on this one!

I've had the NYB virus on a HD with a Drive Overlay and the Fdisk MBR worked fine for removing it,not sure if there are different versions of the NYB?

Have you tried putting the Drive in a mAchine whose BIOS would recognize it properly and doing the Debug or Fdisk MBR then(As I recall I had switched the Drive to a newer machine when I did fdisk/mbr. Of course you would want to disconnect any other HD in the newer comp incase its a more nasty than normal NYB.
