    Another question about Ghost

    Hi,

I know there is another thread about ghost but this a different question so I don't want to confuse the problems.

When I setup to run ghost 2003 to make a copy to the 3d partition of the same drive, ghost will not see the partition. It does see the 3rd partition if I want to copy back to the primary partition. What is going on, as the copy that is there was made with ghost about 2 months ago???? The only thing that has been installed is XPSP2. If this is the problem, anyone have any idea what I need to change to get it to work.

I have made a backup copy to an outboard drive through USB 1.1. It took about 3 hours to copy.

    Thanks for the help.

    mac

Have you checked the attributes of the files? They maybe hidden, except for coping back.

My D: is a clone of C: and I can overwrite it and do. 2003 is what I am using. I only image to cds though.

Just a WAG, but maybe there isn't room to put an image on that partition. If so, Ghost won't give that option.

When I put SP2 on my 1.1G XP OS last week, it bloated it to 1.8G. So the new image is going to be about 300-400MB bigger than your last one.

Edit: If you're cloning then the clone is about 700MB larger than your last clone. How big is the partition?

The partiation is 8 gig, which should be more than enough. I did run into a problem trying Aronis True image because the image is made on the "C" partiation and there was not enough room. So I tried ghost.

    Thanks ,

    A little more info pleaz,

    are you imaging or cloning?

how big is your C partition and how much data is on it?

if you're imaging, how much data is already on the target partition?

are you running ghost from windows or from floppy?

The partiation that I am trying to ghost to is 8 gig. Te "C" partiation is 7.05 gig of which 6.2 is used. The strange thing is that about 2 months ago, I made a copy of the "C" partiation to the "F" partiation and it worked using ghost.

I want to make a new copy (clone) now as I have added sp2 and want that included in the backup.

    Thanks mac

I'm guessing that you're running Ghost from a floppy. Try it from windows, see if it'll give an indication of why it doesn't want to clone to that partition.
