Windows ME, Del PC, 128MB Dimm memory, 2Gig hard Drive, nothing else special.

I also get a "Windows Protection Error" similar to another posting seen here. \
The difference is says, ... "while initializing device Vcache".
It will not start up normally, but I can get into safe mode.
I tried to restore to the last known working registry, but it said unable to determine the last good one. So I selected back three weeks when I was told it was working, and no change upon start up.
Any ideas how to repair this? thanks, Joe
