    Laptop monitor going haywire

One day I decided to turn on my older AMD-K2 366mhz, win 98
    FE, Toshiba 2065CDS, laptop computer...

The monitor was glowing black..., but there was nothing on the screen..., then all of a sudden the picture started flickering on and off...

It seems to be a wire problem..., I have built a number of computers..., but I dont really feal that confortable opening up my faithful laptop without a little guidance...

It would be nice if people would start building there laptops, that way there will be more common knolege on how they work...
I wanted to build one a while back but there isn't any company that makes parts for a laptop builder, the one and only place I found parts was ebay..., and that just seems like too much of a headache...

    thanx in advance,
    Byan

Sounds like a problem with the ribbon cable that runs from the motherboard through the hinge to the screen.
You could try removing the keypad [different makes have different ways to achieve this] and check the connector is inserted correctly and perhaps the other end which will require the removal of the screen surround to check.

As to building laptops they are mostly one off plastic moulding and motherboards which change model to model so its unlikely that this will happen very soon.

hmm.., I am going to have to figure out what to do...

of course the first thing I thought is if it doesn't work then look under the hood..., so before I posted my first message I took the keypad off but the only connector I can see from there is the keyboard's..., it looks like the motherboard may be facing down instead of up or something...

Some day I'll have to take time and maybe take the whole case apart..., I just don't want to be stuck with a bunch of parts because I stupidly can't find out how to put it back together...

    thanx again,

nope no digital camera..., been meaning to get one for some time though...

It's not that I wont remember where the stuff went..., but sometimes when stuff is manufactured once taken apart it is almost impossible to get it back together..., just because the stuff was put in such an order or way.

I know most products aren't this way but the way the laptop looked when I took off the keypad was a lil bit scary..

    thanx again
