    PeoplePC

I think I found an ISP worst than AOL! This Internet service is completely unreliable, their software does not work properly, their technical support is useless and customer service is almost impossible to reach! I canceled yesterday, but I can still log on to their service from another ISP.
Their support claimed that my problem is Windows 2000, not the software they use.
Anyone else had problems with PeoplePC?

burgert, I've been using PeoplePC for over 4 years (3 years on Windows 98SE and 1 year on Windows XP SP1) and have never had any problems. You can bypass their software by just making a new connectoid and entering your PeoplePC username, password, and one of their phone numbers, then create a shortcut to the new connectoid to your desktop or quicklaunch.

    Thanks for all your replies.
I did try a connectoid instead of their software, it would not connect. Three of their technical support people informed me that the problem caused by Windows 2000.
I guess it is just one of those things, I could not make this thing work.

    Thumbs up

I'm currently using PeoplePC and will renew again once my yearly is up. I pay $10 a month using PPC, but opted to pay for a whole year at one time. Been using them for about a year now.

For me, PCC is very reliable, only once have I had a busy signal and I connect at a satisfactory speed of 45+ Kbps. I use it with several XP systems and a Win2000 and have never had problems with it. (and I'm online a lot...)

I like Tufenuf don't use their software, never had...
I use my e-mail address as the User name and my password for connection settings.

I plan on keeping PPC as my ISP.

burgert, When you set up your new connectoid make sure that you have your actual modem showing in the "connect using" window in Properties under the General tab for the connectoid.

people PC. Mark John Jefferies sold my girlfriend a computer and they actually have fairly good internet service, at least from what I see. She doesn't have problems with it and never asks me for help. They seem to do a good job with their ISP.

Thanks again for all the input.
Could anyone setup newsgroups with PeoplePC? If I understand it correctly, that would cost more?
Tried several times with the connectoid, could not logon.

Make sure you have the @peoplepc.com in there, not just your user name. So it's burgert@peoplepc . com, not just burgert.

I too have and love this ISP. I've used many, including AOL (no comparison, AOL is a virus!) and this has been my favorite. I don't intend to change.

Vernon Frazee, great link. The people that wrote that need to learn about alternate browsers though. lol

News Groups shouldn't cost any more, at least it doesn't for me...

    The server address is news.peoplepc.com

Earthlink owns peoplepc. Or at least they did as of Feb, 2003. I had an Earthlink account I decided to cancel (no problems, just found cheaper service through AT&T.) Earthlink rep , who was very pleasant, suggested since I was dropping Earthlink due to price that I give peoplepc a try, whom Earthlink had just aquired at that time.
