Speech Playback
I was editing an old WordStar file in Word 2002 (SP2) after having converted it to the Word format. Suddenly, to my utter amazement my PC started reading the file to me. I thought I was going mad! It did an excellent job – apart from the terrible accent! I don’t know what I did for this to happen, and I can’t repeat it. I’ve never used the speech functions. Please! What did I do, and how can I do it again? Word Help - doesn’t! Can you?

Hi there are third party apps that do this, however as you seem unsure then go to accessories and check out narrator, I suspect that is what you heard.

Thanks very much! The terrible accent is Microsoft Sam. Why can't they give us a good Aussie accent? Anyway, thanks for solving my question. I appreciate the ready help that always comes from Virtual Dr.

Thanks for the articles. I'll have a look at them. Was interested in your location. I lived in East Finchley for 27 yrs until moving to Oz.
