E-mail notice of viruses
The US government now offers e-mail notification of internet threats. You can sign-up here:
www.us-cert.gov
Please remember that viruses now spread around the world in hours so e-mail notices are too little, too late. However, reports of other types of threats may be useful.

Since the government is involed you can be sure of two things:
1)The alerts will be two weeks late.
2)The virus alert emails will contain VIRUSES.
The true test of character is not how much we
know how to do, but how we behave when we don't know what to do

That comment might actually be more ironic than you think, given the way the White House spammed journalists with big photos of Dubya signing the CAN-SPAM act.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.

Yeah, saw that one already... conspiracy theorists won't go there and the bad guys will work on hosing it up. ;-)
Many bad things attack by using email, why even look there for notification of hazards. Click me! and I'll fix your infected 'puter. Sure, right, that's it... just click here!
It's a waste of my money...

Cynics everywhere
I'm sure this will be at least as effective as the color coded terrorist alert system. What is the current level? Mauve?
