    Can I get a plotter driver from another PC

    I have a 8 pen cad plotter from the late 80's and the printer I added on my previous PC's was the HP Draftmaster II. But my current work PC has Win XP and it does not have that model # and the 2 Draftmasters that are on the list do not work. I've tried looking for the driver on the IBM and HP and driver sites with no luck. The plotter is a IBM 6186-1 plotter.

    Is there any way to get the driver off an older PC that has the Draftmaster II on the add printer list? I did have it on my last work PC which was a IBM T-21 Laptop.

    thx in advance.

    I did a little digging around and found some links that may help you. The information out there on that plotter is pretty slim though...

    A list of HP drivers:
    http://www.printer-drivers.com/companies/456.htm

    IBM search results::
    http://www.ibm.com/search?en=utf&v=1...q=6186+plotter
    http://www.printers.ibm.com/internet...upportolder_ww

    Any of these guys might be able to point you in the right direction if nothing else:

    http://www.rivieratool.com/facilitylist.html
    http://www.draftingsupplies.com/index.html

    http://www.driverforum.com/printer3/2593.html
    Excerpt: "as far as I can remember the compatible driver is HP Draftmaster 1&2 (HP7195A Driver4Windows)…"

    Hope that helps narrow down your search a little.

    This might work:

    If the two computers are or can be networked, choose to add a network printer to the XP system. WinXP may be able to get all the drivers it needs from the other system.

    If WinXP does get all the drivers for the plotter from the other system, disconnect the plotter from the other system and attach it to the WinXP system. Go into the properties for the plotter on the WinXP system and change it from a network printer to a local printer.
