Hotmail via Outlook Express problem
I have my outlook Express setup to retrieve my Hotmail. When it does retrieve my Hotmail it comes through all gibberish, I can not make out what it says? It doesn't do me any good to retrieve it if I can not read it. What did I do wrong and what can I do to correct this

likely you did nothing wrong. First, try to Repair IE/OE:
Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x comes with a repair tool. To use it, go to the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel; Scroll and click to highlight 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 5/6.x' in the Install/Uninstall window; Then click on the Add/Remove button; Select 'Repair' the current installation of Internet Explorer radio button; Click on OK. Restart your computer when prompted.
Delete the Hotmail retreival before doing the above; Restart your computer. Then when the Repair is done set it back up.
At any rate, that Hotmail retrival via OE is not certified to work and Microsoft makes no quarantees it will.
I apologise for stating something you already know.

Forgot to mention that somethings come thru ok, but most do not? I don't see any repair option. Any other ideas...

go to the Windows Update site and get the latest version of IE since there is no IE entry in the Add/Remove Programs control panel list or, Netscape 7.1.

Crash "Need Help"
Shortly after posting this topic my system crashed. I lost my email setup using Hotmail retrieval and I can't remember how I set it up? Could someone help me with this

I Open Outlook Express
2. Click the menu TOOLS > ACCOUNTS, then ADD -> MAIL...
3. Your Name: type in your name here. Click NEXT.
4. Internet E-Mail Address: type in your MSN Hotmail email address and click the NEXT button.
5. Ensure that "My incoming Mail Server is a [HTTP] server" is selected. Next, ensure that "My HTTP mail service provider is [HOTMAIL]" is selected. If you use an MSN account, select [MSN) here. Click NEXT.
6. Internet Mail Logon: type in your Account name and Password in the fields provided. Click the NEXT button, then FINISH.
Outlook Express will then prompt you "Would you like to Download folders from the mail server you added?" ChooseYES.

Could try a free program called Hotmail Popper though I've never tried it on OE, works great with Eudora.

That is the normal way to set it up and it always works fine for me. In the Forum where you got the help before, go to the "Search" box at the bottom and search for "Hotmail +OE" or just "Hotmail"" and see if you can find it.

The simplist thing to start with then would be to do a search of previous posts using your log in name and see if the solution works again.

I did look back at my old post, Thank You, and found out how I made it work. For those interested do not click on Hotmail instead insert http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata in the window. It works great, even better this time. Thanks for the help
