    Defragmenter Problem

    Hi there. I have search the forum for this question with no luck. I apologise if it has been asked before.

    When I run the defragmenter it seems fine but as soon as it finishes it immediately starts over again.

    I am running XP Home FAT32. I have installed Diskeeper and have the same problem. Uninstalled it and still the same.

    Any ideas??

    There is a possibility that the defragmentation was not completed,
    due to another process running in the background interfering or an error associated with your harddrive was found while it was defragmenting, and caused the defragmentation process to start all over again. In safe mode perform chkdsk/r (initially) then the defragmenation (make sure no other program or application is running while defragmenting.
