    HP 6110 Having trouble printing

I have had this printer since the end of October 2003. My problem is that when printing it stops in the middle of printing.
I am using Windows 98 se. This mesage come up.
There was an error writing to USB001 for "the printer(hp office 6100 series) data error (cyclic redundancy check)

I have emailed rech support 3 times and have done all they have said. Check device manager, checked software updates, bought a new usb cable just in case. Have uninstalled hp software with hp scrubber and reinstalled. I still get the same message.
I then called tech support and they said the software had a problem and would mail me a new disk. They did say I could also download the software in the mean time, which I did. Went through the whole process again and loaded the software I downloaded and still get the same problem. I should have the new disk this Friday but fear the same thing is going to happen.
    Please help if you can.
This problem does not happen all the time but is know happening more often than not.
    Any suggestions????? I am stumped.
    Thanks

Turn off the computer and the printer, remove the printer's power cable from any surge protector or power strip, and connect it directly to a wall outlet. The level of current passing through a surge protector or power strip fluctuates slightly, and may cause an inadequate supply of power to the printer.

If no luck, then connect the printer's power cable to a different wall outlet.

    If still no good, then:
    (1) Turn off the computer and printer.
    (2) Disconnect the printer's power cable from the wall outlet.
    (3) Disconnect the printer cable from the printer and from the computer, and reconnect it.
    (4) Reconnect the printer's power cable.
    (5) Restart the computer.

I have done all of the above and nothing changed. I am really lost know. I really like the way the printer prints (when it does).
Is there anything else that can possibly be done.

    Thanks

Is there any possibility you could try the printer on another win98se computer. This might help you narrow down whether it's
something on your computer or maybe the printer itself.

    Good luck.

Coach17, I'm having the same problem with my HP656c, so I assume your printer is USB also? I have alleviated this problem ,temporarily, by re-installing the software, but the sucker is VERY finicky. The only way I can get it to print more than half a page is to dump the file to Word (office 2K), hilite what I want to print, then do the usual, Otherwise I get half a page, then that da**ed blinking yellow light. I'd like to know what HP support told you to do so far? Have you updated the drivers? I hope maybe we can solve this for both of us, and maybe others...
P.S. Your system specs might help here, especially which ver/build of '98 you are using :>)

    Junker,
I am glad (but not glad) someone else is having this problem. I have updated the drivers from HP website for Windows 98se. I have tried pasting to Word 2000 and printing but have the same issue. So far I can print an entire email from Outlook 2000 with no problem which tells me it will work.
I have sent you an email of my story with HP Tech support, hope you get it.
If not my email is [email protected] if you want to email me and I will forward you the email.
My system is Windows 98se, Pentium 500, 256 ram.
I am waiting for the CD they are sending me which should be here by the end of the week that is suppose to be updated. Idon't think it is going to work since I downloaded what is suppose to be what I am getting in the mail.
    Let me know.
    Thanks

This is the update to this issue. An HP Tech caaled me Friday night from California, not India where I spoke to the others. He had my what is now a book length email that has been going back and forth since December 1st. He told me he had no resolution to my problem since it was all laid out in my email and he had already gone over it.
What they are doing now is send me a new model #7130 which he assures me will work. I hope it will work out. This printer is $200.00 more than the 6110 I currently have so they are willing to try to keep me as a customer. I don't have much choice since I just cannot go out and buy a diffetent brand. I should have it Monday or Tuesday.
I will post back later this week and let you know how it is.

Holy Sh*t, coach, I only paid about $40 for this thing @ walmart. Still, it won't print more than a quarter of a page, then locks up with the yellow light blinking. Of course you're machine is a M/P, whereas mine is a simple printer. And hey, it used to work...
    I still think it's a USB problem.

I received my Hp 7130 last night and hooked it up. So far so good. Although my HP6110 worked well for about 3 weeks before I had trouble.
The print quality on the 7130 is very good and printed from every where I could not print with the 6110.
I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I just wanted to post back to advise that so far after a month my HP 7130 is working fine. It prints from every where I could not with the HP 6110. I am hoping it stays that way.
