    home http server

    can i run my own personal FTP server over a regular desktop computer system with running Redhat 8.0???

    there is one thing that may pose as a problem, i have a dsl connection going through a linksys network
    will this cause a problem?? and if so, is there a way to fix this problem?

    all i really want is my own ftp server i can host my files on, if there is any oher FREE way i can do his, id love to hear from you

    It looks like RH8 has about 4 ftp servers installed by default. Open up the Services Control Panel and see what is available to run. Look for wu-ftpd or vsftpd. You can start them from there. Give this a read too...

    As far as your router goes..you will just need to forward tcp port 21 on the router to the IP address of the ftp server (your linux box).
