I am reformatting a hard drive and after I install

What disk are we talking about? HD or floppy or...? Could you describe the problem a bit more in detail?

The message says to insert another disk
I was using a cd to do the install
so I put in the windows2000 cd
and the pc starts up fine.
But, if the windows 2000 cd is not in the cdrom
it will give me the message:
Boot: I/O error reading disk
please insert another disk.
Thanks.

Is the partition you installed W2K on set as the "active" partition? If not, then W2K will not be able to boot off it. In that case boot using a Win98 boot floppy, run FDISK and set the W2K partition as active.
