For sharing music, peer to peer programs are the common tools for downloading music. Mind you I don't do it because its illegal

There are many, again many of especially independent artist that put their music on these P2Ps that encourage people to D/L their music and give it a listen and hopefully to then find and purchase their stuff. Usually from Indy web sites.
There are also mainstream artists that have no problem with people D/L'ing and checking out their music, again in the hopes that the CD will be purchased.

Is it the "new", "cool" thing to do saying illegal, dont discuse that here, thread closed? (((Please, teknoman2001, not using you as example, just saw this and been meaning to ask my question)))

If groups encourage you to sample or D/L their music how can the pat answer always be "illegal?"
As stated above, been meaning to ask this. Maybe someone understands tha DMCA better than me. Or am I not allowed to put my "own" song on a P2P and ask people to D/L and check it out in the hopes they like it and come to my site and purchase?
With the system and control the Major studios have, P2P is the only way some Indy groups are ever heard. And some good music to hear.
