    Unhappy WJView File Missing

    Hello Good People!

I'm needing your help once again. Tonight while surfing the net, somehow I got into a whole herd of junk. It all began when about a zillion popups suddenly came to life on a Christmas Site. After closing all of them, I noticed a different icon down beside my clock and I saw it was something downloading from ezula. I stopped it immediately, but junk had already gotten onto my system. No viruses, just junk. I ran my ad-aware and easy cleaner after running a full virus scan. I got rid of all the junk the two programs found but I must have deleted a file I needed as now when I re-boot, I am getting an error pop up message. it says:

    WJView Error
ERROR: Could Not Execute Main: The System Cannot Find File Specified.

My computer seems to be running fine and etc but I know that I should not get this error message and as I said, while deleting junk in the program files, I'm sure I deleted this file somehow. What do I need to do at this point?

Thank you for any help or advice you can give me.

    Have a good morning

Click on Start->Run->and type MSCONFIG->Startup Tab

See if there is a reference to this program and uncheck it.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

    Good morning

Since the more knowledgable types don't seem to be around maybe this will help.

The first step in the uninstall process is going to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, selecting 'TopText', 'HotText' or 'ContextPro' from the list and clicking Remove.

    Further instructions are available at:

    http://www.whirlywiryweb.com/removeezula.htm

Post back and let us know what happens.

You might also want to run HiJack This, available here:

    http://www.webattack.com/get/hijackthis.shtml

and post the results back. Ezula is a browser hijacker.

Sorry SRJ, didn't mean you, when I said "the more knowlegable types", didn't know you had posted.

Thanks Leurgy and Steve for your replies! So, this WJView is not an essential Windows file I need for my computer? That's a relief!! I did go into the msconfig and noticed this WJView is associated with some of the junk I got last night. It's listed next to a clicked box called couponsandoffers. I unclicked the box as Steve suggested and clicked apply and got the message that I need to re-boot for the changes to take effect. However, when I re-booted, I got a message saying I had changed things and I was now in the Diagnostic Startup and I should go back in to msconfig (which it took me automatically) and under GENERAL tab, click NORMAL. But....when you click normal, the box with couponsandoffers gets clicked again. LOL Kind of a catch 22. So, I then went to add/remove programs as Leurgy suggested and looked for the files he suggested and they weren't listed. I then went down in Leurgy's message to the link to Hijackthis. It found it and I clicked it to be removed.

I have a question about an entry in my startup in msconfig. It's listed twice and both say they were created yesterday and the time coincides with the herd of pop up junk I got. The listing is MWSVM. Under properties of this file, it gives no information except for the size and date it was created. I'm wondering if this is junk or a needed file?

I also went to the link in Leurgy's message about removing ezula. Everything there was fine. It gives file names to look for on your system and I didn't have any of them which is good.

So, now I'm just needing to find out how to unclick the selected things in msconfig startup without my system re-booting in diagnostic mode?

I'm re-booting after I post this as I forgot that I hadn't done it since running the HijackThis program and maybe the problem is fixed now. I'll post back after I re-boot and give you my results.

Thanks again for your help! I always feel like a computer moron on here since you all know so much! LOL

    Have a great evening everyone!

I just re-booted and the error message is no more! The HijackThis program really worked!

Thanks for all the help I got! It is truly appreciated!
