boot log shows'font loadings' as failures
Hi,
I am running Win95a on a Packard Bell 4610, Pentium, 120 mhz/72 RAM, IE 5.01, SP#2.
I was just exploring my recent "bootup log" and noticed that towards the end of it, I had between 75-100 'font loadings' that were listed as failures.
The first one, as an example, read:
LoadStart = F:\fonts\ttf\algerinn.ttf
LoadFail = F:\fonts\ttf\algerinn.ttf Failure code is 0005
Everything else loading on the bootup log is successful. Only these fonts are failures.
Is this something I should be concerned about?
Thanks and Regards,
Phil

Do you actually have an F: drive with fonts in a \fonts\ttf folder?
If not, and your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive is F: , it looks to me like at some time someone has installed fonts from a CD without having "Copy fonts to Fonts folder" checked. In this case the fonts would only work when the CD was in the drive.
If you have any non-working fonts matching these failed loads, you could un-install them. (The actual fonts will have similar but fuller names compared to the filename.) I forget exactly how this will work in Win95, if they don't show up as registered in Fonts, their entries may need to be removed from the registry. This may speed up loading Windows a little, depending how many loads fail, and will free up space in the registry fonts key to avoid un-necessarily limiting the number of fonts that can be on the system.

Hi Platypus,
Thanks for reply and information. My 'F' drive is for my CD-Rom. I inherited the computer from my son-in-law a few years back after he had used it for 5 - 6 years. I will see if he recalls trying to add any 'fonts'.
Thanks and regards,
Phil
