a control panel error message
i have a question, everytime that i open the control panel -thru the run command typing `control`- i get this error message, although the control panes shows up, and i can do whatever i wanted to do.
that message doesn`t appear if i launch that from the traditional place.
perhaps is because i`m using `lite step`?
copy of message:
`it`s impossible to find "(or one of its components). Please check that the access route and the file name are correct and that all the requiered libraries are available`
actually, and since i`m using an spanish windows edition, i get this message:
`No es posible encontrar "(o uno de sus componentes). Compruebe que la ruta de acceso y el nombre de archivo sean correctos y que todas las bibliotecas requeridas estén disponibles.`
i don`t understand what that `"` means, because is not pointing to any file....

if you have a c:\autoexec.bat file, try adding this:
path=c:\;c:\windows\;c:\windows\system;
if you already have a path statement in that file, add ;c:\windows\;c:\windows\system; to it.
you can open c:\autoexec.bat with notepad.

The control panel ICONS call up CPL extension files in the SYSTEM folder. Among the defaults (95b) are:
access.cpl____57344 8-24-96 11:11a
appwiz.cpl____63488 8-24-96 11:11a
desk.cpl_______8704 8-24-96 11:11a
intl.cpl______48640 8-24-96 11:11a
joy.cpl_______51200 8-24-96 11:11a
main.cpl______67072 8-24-96 11:11a
mmsys.cpl____193024 8-24-96 11:11a
modem.cpl_____52080 8-24-96 11:11a
netcpl.cpl_____5312 8-24-96 11:11a
password.cpl__37376 8-24-96 11:11a
sysdm.cpl____260480 8-24-96 11:11a
timedate.cpl__48640 8-24-96 11:11a
Other will be installed as components are added.
I suspect that one of the files may be corrupted. I'm guessing that these are listed in the Registry and it is calling up a CPL file that is missing or corrupt.
Hope this helps.
