    partition magic gurus

i am thinking about creating partitions, 1 for games and possibly one or two more. if i buy partition magic, what can i expect? once installed and i have the partitions created will pm allow me to select the programs i want to install in those partitions? will it allow me to move them from their current location into these new partitions or will i have to uninstall them and reinstall them to their new home? i just wanted your input on this possible endevor before i spend the time and money to do something i wish i had never begun. i guess kind of in a nutshell, i want to be able, if i do this, to do it as simply, quickly and without uninstall/reinstall or programs/os. thanks for your time and input, im used to helping not asking.

Once you've created or adjusted your partitions, PM is out of the picture. It doesn't have anything to do with program placement.

As for moving program folders, that depends on the program/s. I moved my PhotoShop7 folder from D to F without any problems. Just had to adjust the shortcut on my desktop.

Not necessarily. I've only ever moved one installed program, PhotoShop, and it worked fine. I only had to make a new shortcut on my desktop.

    Hi,
I created new partitions with Partition Magic and moved nearly all my programs to a new partition. I just highlighted and used the "Move" Option on the Left hand side. I too had to fix the shortcuts, but that`s a lot less trouble that reinstalling.

Just a note of caution,it wont necessarily work with all programs though as registry entries will point to the wrong file location.
