    PC reboots

    P 4, 2.4, WinXP Pro. PC keeps rebooting after initiate Windows XP Professional screen, even when I press "Last Known ...."

    probably looking at a repair install of xp. boot to xp cd, choose install, it will run thru some config stuff, at the 2nd blue install screen it will give you choices like install xp in existing partition (not advised) install xp in another partition or REPAIR EXISTING COPY OF XP (R) choose the repair. doing this will remove all of your dnloaded hotfixes incl. sp1 and any non whql drivers you may be running, other than that, all programs and files should remain intact. you may wait for a few more replies with possible fixes before you go for this.

    If you can boot into Safe Mode, go to Control Panel>System>Advanced>Startup & Recovery>Settings and uncheck "Automatically reboot". Then the next time you should get a Stop error which will give some idea of where the problem lies.
