    Angry Cant find"\" in DOS

Hi there, I'm running WinXP with a Logitech Cordless Duo K/B. When I go into DOS, pressing the same key combination I use in windows to get the "\" gives me the # symbol. I have tried most key combos, but cant get the blinkin backslash.....any ideas people? Cheers Chris

I am using English Astralia input language, Oz Keyboard

Don't know if this will work with your particular setup but, it will while in DOS or in a DOS Window on a system running a US version of Windows 95/98/Me.

While holding down the [Alt] key, type 92 on the numeric keypad, (not the number keys at the top of the keyboard), and then release the [Alt] key. This should produce a backslash ("\") character. In other words,

    [Alt-92] = \

Thanks Vernon, that worked OK. It seems odd tho, that i have never had to use this combo before, I usually just use the same key combo as when I'm in Windows.

Might investigate a bit further, as I.m hoping for a shorter key combo as the backslash key is used a lot in DOS, lol! Cheers Chris

I may be being dense, but does your keyboard lack the pipe - backslash (| \) key to the right of the + = key or elsewhere?

It's just that I can't remember ever having to use any combo to get a backslash ...

So, still being dense, does the key not give you a backslash in a DOS session? That would seem weird.

Nah, when I press the shift + backslash key, I get the # symbol in DOS but the \ symbol in Windows

Try setting a different codepage in the CONFIG.SYS.

You may wish to try using the same codepage definition that your version of Windows is running. DOS defaults to codepage 437, if I recall correctly.
