    Question " Partitioning "

I have 2 HD's, C: HD (120 GB) has my OS Win XP pro installed & D: HD (40 GB) has my Ghost and other backup files. I want to know how I can partition my C drive so I can install a second OS. I have tried both Partition Magic & Acronis Partition Expert without any success, a complete waste of time. I thought I knew how to do this but it has completely slipped my mind.

Select your PM version then watch the PowerQuest Instructional Videos. You can print out the step by step written instructions.

    Multiple Boot Scenarios are here.

I have done this and everything else with both programs before my post. I have already given up on them. What I want is to be freshened up on how can I partition my C: drive the old fashion way, then I can Ghost back my image files to one of the C: partition.

Do you have a floppy drive on this machine? Have you made the PM floppies?

You haven't said exactly what problems you're having with PartitionMagic.

When I run into a problem such as a bad partition table issue, I wipe the partitions with either >delpart< or >wipeout<.

Then I'm able to use PM to reset whatever partitions I want.

With Wipeout you should disconnect any other drives in your machine that you don't want wiped. Meaning disconnect your D: drive before proceeding.

Forgot about that. But if that does not work, maybe the diagnostic program for the hdd has a Zero write / low leve typw program to reset the surface of the hdd. Maxtor and WD do.

Could you explain, in more detail, how to make a bootable wipeout disk. I had no success when I tried.

bojovan, I boot with a regular 98 diskette then switch to a diskette with wipeout.exe on it. You can execute it from there.
