internal or external?
I am after a DVDR/RW (Pioneer DVR-A06U). Now this is an internal drive, my friend was saying that Firewire external stuff is faster? is this true?

While it might be true that Firewire has the faster transfer rate compared to IDE, if you were to look inside the external box you'd find that there's a standard IDE interface inside. So the speed of the Firewire connection is immaterial. In any case the interface is not the limiting factor here, that is the ability of the drive to actually read the data from the disc, and that is many times slower than either IDE or Firewire.
