Exporting Registry Within Dos In ME
i used to like doing the exporting the registry in windows 98 within dos,then importing it back again,it used to really slim it down,well i havnt installed the dos hack to unhide dos in windows ME,can it be done from the dos promt window on the start menu,or can i make floppy with the correct files on it?

You should be able to boot from a Windows Me (or 98) boot disk, change into the C:\WINDOWS directory, load SMARTDRV (for faster disk access) then do your registry export/import.
(Don't have Windows Me handy or I'd try it. )

vernon how would i load smartdrv from the floppy or from the a:\promt

I don't use ME. But if it is like 98, you can set the properties for the DOS window, under Advanced, for "Prevent MS-DOS based programs from detecting Windows". You might be able to do this in a DOS window then. Of course the registry will be in use at that point.
