Sharing Files Between Windows 98 and Windows XP

    Hi Guys,

I need your help. I have a windows XP laptop, and a windows 98 desktop. I also have a crossover cable. I want to share files between the laptop and desktop. Can anyone give me the steps please? Thanks!

P.S. The desktop is on a novel network, but the XP laptop is not. When I use a cross-over between the laptop and desktop, and then plug the desktop back into novell when I have finished sharing files, will there be a problem?

I found documentation on this, but it says I need to set a static IP address for both computers. If i set a static IP for the novel desktop, then I have to switch back to DHCP when i reconnect back to novell, correct?

DHCP will not work with a crossover cable connection. I'd get static ip addresses or purchase a router.
