    Angry !My Friggin Computer!

Helllo. Today I downloaded Macromedia Dreamweaver. I then uploaded it on to my computer. So when I was ready to take it off I went to add/remove in control panel and the only thing in that box was macromedia dreamweaver. Does anyone know how I can get everything back. It would be of very much help. Thank You

    crazyjustin1- This may help?
Go back to a good registry:
Restore Registry: in DOS: C:\SCANREG/RESTORE and/or
    C:\SCANREG/FIX
Good Luck POST BACK and let us know how you made out.

A slightly less extreme fix than scanreg /restore would be to go to: C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files folder and delete any Macromedia entries you possibly find there.

Ok so how do I go about finding the system registry. I tried what you said but did not work. I think I may have gotten a virus because this computer is slowing down more and more every day.

If you suspect a virus or other nasty,my next question would be,do you have a 'good' AV program? You can go to these sites and run virus and trojan scans for free:
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp

    http://www.trojanscan.com/trojanscan/

If your free of nasties, you can do a registry restore thus. Boot your PC and after the POST(power on,self test) window goes by,hold the 'Ctrl' key down 'til you see the basic boot menu. Press the '5' key, then <enter> to get the C:\> prompt. At this prompt, type 'scanreg /restore'(no quotes) and press <enter>. A screen will come up giving you options of previous registries. Use the arrow keys to highlight a 'started' registry dated before your problems began. Press <enter>. If the registry you selected was a 'good' one, a box will come up telling you so and telling you to press <enter> to reboot using the 'good' registry.

    Hope this helps...

Which web site did you do the download from? It's entirely possible that THIS download was responsible for the problem if the version was not the official trial version directly from the appropriate web site.

I have d/l'd the official trial version, and had no problems installing and uninstalling it...
    Various Windows and Linux platforms...

ok I did what you told me to and updated the scan registry. The one on there were from today or 3 months ago. I can't remember what I have put on here since 3 months ago. If I do go again and update it to that what all will it chage. Thank you so much for the help

Your registry is backed up when you shut down and do a cold boot. If you only have one recent backup,do you leave your machine on most all the time? Not a good idea imo if so. You can do a backup easily by going to Start>Programs>accessories>system tools>system info>Tools menu up top of this window and click registry checker. It will offer to do a backup from there.

If you have to go back to a registry several months old, everything you've installed since that date will be gone when you do a scanreg /restore .

Did you do scan(s) for nasties as suggested?
