I suspect you are looking for the IE setup file, which is named ie6setup.exe in the case of IE6. However, you might be better off to go to
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...p1/default.asp
and get the latest version of everything. ie6setup.exe is only about 500KB, so is a very small part of the whole download.
Remember that you should then go to Windows Update and get the recent Critical Updates.

If you're on a dialup, that download can take an eternity but, yes, you're in luck. The IE files you downloaded to upgrade to IE6 should still be on the harddrive in C\WINDOWS\Windows Update Setup Files (where C is the drive letter of your main drive).

Find that folder and open the ie6setup.exe file. I haven't tried using that file so I don't know that it will install. It might just give you the "already installed" error message and quit.

Another file to try if the above doesn't work is "ie.inf." Do a search on the harddrive for that file and once found, right click on it and choose "install."

You will need to go back to the MS update site and download any updates the reinstall eliminates.

IE, working fine now. i tried "ie.inf." all i got was a blank screen, then i went to C\WINDOWS\Windows Update Setup Files, left clicked on ie6setup.exe file, started downloading it, it took like only 3 minutes to finish downloading.

    Thanks
