    Angry missing files for printer

    Hi,

I am having problems installing a printer...HP laserjet series II. When I try to copy files from my Windows 98 CD Rom it can't find
    FINSTALL.DLL, ICONLIB.DLL, UNIDRV.DLL, HPPCL.DRV, FINSTALL.HLP, or UNIDRV.HLP. Is there a place to find these elsehere? HELP!!!!

    Thanks in advance,
    Laurie

DriverGuide is a good place for things like that, i use it alot myself
    Try it rite here

    http://www.driverguide.com/

To login just type : drivers
    and password just type: all

You should be able to download the latest Drivers for your printer

They are on the Win98SE CD I have.
Many times I use the wizard that comes up wanting you to insert the Windows CD for a file, then it can't find it like it's not there but it is (usb files in my case).

Put your WinCD in a drive.
When the screen comes up, choose "Browse" button.
    Double-click the yellow Win98 folder.
Find and double-click the zipped "Base5" icon. If you have an unzip program like Winzip or Powerarchiver you should see a window showing the many files hiddin in that Base5 icon.
(Powerarchiver can be had for free at www.oldversion.com)

I found all six files in Base5.
You can right-click each file and choose extract, to your desktop or My Documents, and then target that stupid wizard to the new location.

I could even put these up on a page for you to DL (727k worth), or email them, but they may be different from what you need, if you got 98FE for example.

I believe the attachment size limit here would allow me to attach these, but it MAY be something M$ wouldn't approve of, and this forum doesn't want any M$ trouble. Some sites that had up the WinME defrag utility had to remove the file.
Of course this could be done temporary till you got the files.

But I would bet they ARE on your CD.

Thanks! I did find them on my cd...they were not in base 5 tho, they were spread around in a lot of different driver files. I extracted them and told the dumb wizard where to go! Thanks again.
